IHM New York was wonderful. There were many young mothers in attendance, quite a few of whom were expecting 🙂 Some of the conference-goers were unfamiliar with CatholicMom.com, so I got to tell them all about it, and naturally, talk about the book as well. THIS book, of course!
This was the very first time that “The Catholic Mom’s Prayer Companion” was made available to the public! Woo hoo! And listening to Dr. Bill Thierfelder’s talk at the conference reminded me – not that I needed a reminder – of the usefulness of “The Catholic Mom’s Prayer Companion” as a resource for what Dr. Thierfelder calls “praying in the present.” “The Catholic Mom’s Prayer Companion” is packed with reflections that will make the most of those rare moments in which you are able to pause, ponder, and be present to the Holy Spirit within you.
Besides Dr. Thierfelder’s excellent presentation were an inspiring talk by Fr. Andrew Apostoli on the topic of resignation, as well as a couple of practical (and practically hilarious) talks – one on homeschooling and one on husbands – by the inimitable Mary Ellen Barrett. I got to speak on one of my favorite topics, Mompostor Syndrome, and there was a stationery mic on the podium so that I could wave my hands around as I talked! Che bella! Props to Missy Savage, emcee extraordinaire and patient setter-upper of mics and videocams, for both her technical assistance and her punchy presentation, “Homeschooling Expectations vs. Reality.”
