Today I’m making the 4 1/2 hour trip to Christendom College in Front Royal, VA to pick up Clare for Easter break. (But it’s SO worth it 🙂 )
I’m posting the prayer that I’ll be saying before pulling out of the driveway. We received a copy of this prayer in the mail some twenty years ago, from a source that’s long forgotten. From that time on, we’ve recited the prayer before every departure.
That is, except for those times when disputes over the window seats made prayerful recollection impossible.
“Help us almighty Father, to walk ever in your ways, and to travel always in your presence. Please be with us on our journey, and protect us from any peril we may meet on the way. Preserve us, Lord, and those who go with us from every evil, and bring us safely home. Through Jesus Christ, your Son, our Lord, we ask this grace. Amen.“
