Thirty-ish years ago, on a lovely spring Friday morning like this, I’d be looking forward to a fun weekend. In the evening I would probably head out to the New York Catholic Forum to listen to a lecture by Fr. George Rutler or Dr. Alice von Hildebrand. Saturday night would be slated for disco dancing to some Michael Jackson at Fudgies Too in Scarsdale. The next day, despite a late apres-disco homecoming, I’d manage to make it to the 10:15am Mass at my parish church of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel.
Where were you in 1982?
