In the late 1960s Arnold Bread marketed this “special fitness bread” in selected areas. It was labeled “white” bread, but was in fact pale yellow. The bread’s funky color made it all the more appealing to my brothers and me, who would always have a dickens of a time convincing Mother to buy the high-priced loaf. But buy it she did, at least enough times to leave me with the memory of its slightly sweet flavor.
Have you guessed the name of the bread?
Here’s a clue that should give it away: A Boston Red Sox star lent his nickname to the product.
The first person to submit the correct answer will win a vintage postcard. (No googling, please!)
